In October 2006, Grand Woodworks opened its doors in Dubai with a simple promise: every piece we make is fitted precisely to the specific requirements of the client. Twenty years later, that promise still guides every project that leaves our manufacturing facility in Al Quoz.

From a joinery unit to a trusted name

The idea for the company began four years earlier. In 2002, our founder Behram Kapadia set up a joinery unit to design, manufacture and fit bespoke interior projects. Grand Woodworks itself was established shortly before the world faced its economic slowdown — and through those challenging times clients came to value customised products that are elegant and built to last. The company remained resilient, and grew.

Twenty years in milestones

  • 2006 — Grand Woodworks LLC is established in Dubai.
  • 2008 — BM Trada certificate for the manufacture of 30, 60, 90 and 120-minute fire-rated doors.
  • 2015 — ISO 9000:2008 certification for our quality management system.
  • 2016 — ISO 14001:2015 certification for environmental management.
  • 2021 — ISO 45001:2018 for occupational health and safety, and ISO 9001:2015 for quality management.
  • Today — FSC® Chain of Custody certification (FSC® C208306) for responsibly sourced timber.

Work we are proud of

Over two decades our team has completed more than 250 projects for over 80 clients — banks, retail outlets, luxury hotels, private villas and large corporations such as SAP, HSBC, LinkedIn and Waldorf Astoria. A few that define us:

  • The polished wood finishes created for the VOX Cinemas chain across the UAE.
  • Three-dimensional wood panelling for the IFFCO office in Tiffany Tower, Dubai.
  • Lattice screens installed at the Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank headquarters.
  • Mother-of-pearl inlay work for the Za’abeel Ballroom at the Radisson Hotel Dubai.
  • Wavy wooden ceiling fixtures at the SAP MENA office in Dubai, and the welcome desk at the Waldorf Astoria in Ras Al Khaimah.

We were also among the first in the field to work on the LEED-Platinum certified buildings of Masdar City in Abu Dhabi.

None of this happens without our team of more than 200 people — designers, engineers, craftsmen and installers — and the interior builders, architects and consultants we partner with on every project.
